1. Lifelong learning measures – public resources and events open to the general public
1.1 Resources, both free and paid
During 2021, 10 projects funded under the ROSE Secondary Education Project, the Competitive Grants Scheme for Student Support, were carried out, which had as their main objective: (Details here, p.181)
- Support given to students, through the development and application of programs to improve students’ academic performance, tutoring, professional counseling and career guidance, guidance and support services, coaching services, development of socio-emotional skills, workshops in specific fields, as well as awareness campaigns addressed to students with high dropout risk or other similar activities.
- Supporting students enrolled in public higher education institutions and students from state high schools, potential future students, who are at risk of dropping out in the first year of studies in the undergraduate cycle, mainly belonging to disadvantaged groups.
ASE’s library provides:
- Free access to textbooks and courses on different topics. The library continues the development of the digital component of the specialized bibliography provided in the curriculum. The digital material is available for online consultation on the library platform. The ASE library provides off-campus online access to electronic resources to scientific or specialized electronic resources for the economic field and related disciplines according to the university curriculum and research fields through the mobile access service.
- Training sessions on various topics.
- Free of charge access to materials such as digitized publications, eBooks and others.
- Open access inside the library for the general public, but charged for those who are not part or study in the university.
Access to free courses is made available as a result of participation in different international projects:
- Social entrepreneurship adapted to rural community context
- Teaching materials and tutorials in Applied Computer Science or programming engineering
- Crisis management
- Training materials for entrepreneurs, for supporting the personal and organizational development process
- Culture and language
- Tutorials and materials for online education
- Provided in partnership with private companies: ASE’s partnership with the company Garrett Motion implies a better connection of the academic and business environments by organizing open courses supported by Garrett Motion experts. Garrett Open Courses will be held throughout the 2021-2022 academic year.
Free courses for learning foreign languages (Russian, French, German, Turkish, Arabic, Japanese, Chinese, Italian, Spanish) provided by the Department of Modern Languages and Business Communication
Open access journals, allowing the share of latest scientific results in both Romanian and English (the Amfiteatru Economic Journal) or in English (such as the Journal of Economic Computation And Economic Cybernetics Studies and Research, Romanian Economic Journal, Journal of Accounting and Management Information Systems (JAMIS), etc.). 1.2 Events
The conferences and business events hosted by ASE where the representatives of public institutions, private environment or foreign speakers are invited are also free to the general public. Details here: conferences, events involving the private environment and professional associations.

The events organized by the Erasmus Student Network ASE Bucharest are focused on very actual topics concerning sustainability, climate change, migration or the future of education and are open to the general public.
The Student Entrepreneurship Society within ASE is hosting events that target topics on entrepreneurship, also with free access.
SPEAK YOUR MIND – COMMUNICATION IS THE KEY – Project dedicated to all ASE students who face the fear of public speaking, for facilitating their integration on the labour market. (Details here, p.112)
LET’S TALK – TIPS & TRICKS FOR JOBS – Workshops helping students who know a foreign language to practice their knowledge. Within the project, debates are held on various topics in English, German, French, Turkish, Japanese and Italian. (Details here, p.112)
ASE DEBATES – Starting from situations in everyday life, the “Debate Romania” project promotes dynamic debates with economic character, in a non-formal setting, where clear arguments are combined with convincing discourse.
SPEAK YOUR MIND – This project aims to improve students’ public speaking skills. The main objective of this project is that, at the end of the training session, the speech has the following characteristics: clarity and fluency, coherence and accuracy, correctness, logic and effectiveness.
ASEciti Magazine is the place where students passionate about literature and media paint a new reality through words and an effective way of presenting the novelties in the university through the eyes of the students.
2. Training events and activities beyond campus
2.1 Education programmes or vocational training open to the general public
ASE provides postgraduate training and continuous professional development programs and a study program called the Preparatory Year for Learning the Romanian Language for international students. (Details here, p.27)
2.2 Activities beyond campus
We have different activities and organizations which extend the presence of ASE beyond the campus:
- Free business consulting services, an unique approach in the Romanian university environment: over 1000 students have offered free generic consulting for 275 Romanian entrepreneurs in the last four years. Whenever necessary, consultancy could be provided on both planned programme and ad-hoc basis in the case of each organization acting under ASE or the projects developed by ASE specialists.
- Online seminars:
- “How to better promote our business online“, in partnership with Google. (Details here, p.105)
- “Organizational culture – values, mission, impact of COVID/telework”, in partnership with representatives of the private environment.
- “The ASE caravan” is a project in which the university interacts with high schools in the region, presenting the educational offer or providing basic courses in economics.
- The Erasmus Student Network (ESN) ASE Bucharest is involved in different activities for Erasmus students and the young public, in general
- The student associations within ASE are highly involved in the community and act on a voluntary student-run schemes
- The Summer schools are addressed to the general public and high schools’ students. The Faculty of Agricultural Economics and organized the summer school “Be a sustainable entrepreneur”.
- Contests for pupils in high schools with economic profile and other contests organized by the Centre de Réussite Universitaire within ASE. (Details here, p.94; 99-100)
ASE participated in the “Night of European Researchers 2020” with ASE workshops on “Innovative approaches to the teaching process – the use of managerial games in the didactic activity”, “Ecological packaging. The Furoshiki Method”, “Research standards and scientific publication for master’s students in the field of economics”.
Opportunities on the development of different career workshops with company specialists or training and education visits.
3. Policies ensuring lifelong access learning
Through its activities, targeted groups and stakeholders, ASE has already demonstrated and is prone to further guarantee that access to lifelong learning is accessible to all. The principle of non-discrimination to which ASE subscribes state clearly that within ASE, any form of discrimination is prohibited based on: gender, sexual orientation, genetic characteristics, age, nationality, race, colour, ethnicity, religion, political option, social origin, disability, family status or responsibility, union activity. The principle is inscribed in both the Internal Regulation and the ASE Charter.
